If you play an alto flute, I need help?
I'm doing a project on flutes and I'm going to compare the length of an alto to a standard flute. Does anyone know how long an alto flute is? Make sure to let me know if it's a curved or straight head joint. Thanks
Looking for a low priced alto flute?
I've been playing a concert soprano flute for about two years I'm not terrible but I still need lots of practice. I've been considering investing in an alto flute, I've heard they have great tone quality. I wouldn't be looking to join any important orchestra or perform in front of a lot of people so it wouldn't have to be perfect. My concert flute is in pretty good condition and when I bought it 4 years ago it had been used, the price was around 390$ But I've been looking at the price ranges for alto online and it's been very discouraging because while I have a decent amount of money right now I don't have a job high school student . Any advice on how to find one that's good quality but a good price? bad price would be higher than 500 I think I live in indianapolis and I would prefer not to order online and play it before I consider buying.

Alto flute or flute d'amour?
I currently play a concert flute but I'm going buy a new flute in a few months. I've been giving some thought to buying a flute in another pitch.The reason for this is because I am planning on joining a jazz ensemble and I heard the best flutes from the flute family for jazz is either the alto flute or the flute d'amour. However, I would also like to play the same flute in orchestral ensembles.So I was just wondering which one will be better for my situation?The main factors I'm taking into consideration are Difficulty which one is harder to play?Price obviously, the cheaper the better Repertoire Genre diversity Will a concert band symphony orchestral wind ensemble etc. be more likely to have repertoire for the alto flute or the d'amour?Sound which one do you think sounds nicer, in general
