Switching from tenor, to bari, to bass saxophone within a 9 month time span?
I am a girl, and sophomore in high school. I've played the tenor sax for 5 years. In September I switched from tenor to the baritone sax, and I've been met with hostility by the small group of bari players at my school. I'm a very serious player, where as they are lax and rude, and not a crowd I want to be around.I've always had trouble making any note lower than a low D come out on my tenor, but with the bari I can make all of the notes come out fine.I am very serious about learning to play the bass saxophone, and even more serious to play it in marching band on the Florida band trip next year. My parents have agreed to buy me a bass around mid April.What things should I start doing to prepare for playing and marching with such a large instrument? I would ask my band director, but he plays percussion and couldn't even help me with the simplest questions about my tenor the last time I asked him.
