Does the flugelhorn require more air to play than lets say a cornet needs to play?
How old is my Holton cornet?
I would like to know when this cornet was made. It is a Holton Collegiate cornet. It is a C602 and the serial number is 003053. I think it was made in Japan. The only thing engraved into the bell is the name Holton in block like letters. The mouth piece with it is a Vincent Bach Corp 5C, if that helps. thanks for taking the time

Question about a Trumpet that might turn out to be a cornet?
I just bought a Buescher True Tone Indiana 400 and the Model I Think is 274. How do I tell the difference between a the one that I just bought and a cornet... also it has some rust. Could I take it to a repair shop and have it get a acid bath. Would that help the rust? Its on the outside. Also would the acid bath make it shinier? It is in great condition except for the rust and there is a tiny dent on the side. How much would it cost to get it acid bathed, and the dent taken out? And have it polished? Please Answer All Of My Questions... Thx
Professional Musicians! I need help on the right decisions! (trumpet/cornet)?
I'm an eighth grader and I play cornet. I'm pretty sure I can say that I am the most skilled musician in my school. I can play 7 instruments. And I'm very good at all of them, but I need help on one particular decision. I've been First chair in my middle school for a long time. No one has yet passed me up, which wont happen but I dont want to be cocky. haha. Anyway I need to decide on the right mouthpeice to buy for my cornet. I do rely on the top part of my emboshure sometimes to play. And i was told that is an incorrect way of playing and its become of a bad habbit. I have no problem reaching high notes. It is sometimes difficult for me to reach the high notes in a fast motion or in a scale. But only sometimes. And My lips start to wear out if I would play all day, with breaks. So I need to know exactly what kind of mouthpeice would be right for me because my lips are quite heavy and big. Last year I bought the Bach 8 but it seemed the diameter was too small for me and I started to play at the top. I would like an easy response mouthpeice recommended for intermediate students who have the quality that I do. I also play Cornet and have a Holton. I will be needing a new instrument soon. Any reccomendations to these to desicions? Thanks
Difference between short and long cornet?
I have been wanting to get a cornet for a while and now im going for it. I am looking for a used one and was wondering what the main difference were between the shorts and longs. Also any ideas on a good model you can find for a good price? I found a Holton C 602 on craigslist, that worth looking at for 150 bucks used? Also what is a good book to start learning from? thanks
Good cornet for high school?
I have a Bach Stradivarius and I am the first chair trumpet in my high school band. I have been playing the trumpet for 5 yrs. I have always liked the cornet's sound and I have already played one at school. It would be a bflat cornet. What are the certain models to look for that preferably have a price tag on the lower range? I am ok with buying used, I just want to know what models to aim for. Also, if there are any tips for buying a cornet that would be great. THANK YOU SO MUCH

I want to have an idea so I know if they are offering a good price. The cornet is an Olds Ambassador Fullerton, brass gold in color. Condition is good and the instrument plays. The Alto Sax is an Infinity, Nickel plated, bought brand new in 2004. Condition is like new...only played a hand full of times. Thanks for any and all help

Hi there just found a trumpet in a shop for 160. i also found a cornet for $120. the cornet has a slight dent in it but i can get a solid sound out of it however the trumpet is very nice and has an extra semi tone valve. which one shall i choose ?
