Difference between renaissance lute and modern guitars?
im doing a paper on lutes and guitars. i need to know the differences but i cannot find anything specific on the internet. help

Could you play lute music on a violin (pizzicato)?
I played Prelude for Lute in D minor by Bach to a friend of mine, she liked it and asked me to get the Violin music Of course this was ignorant of her, but I agreed to get it for her. Now, of course the music I have is for the lute, so would I get her to play it bowed or pizzicato? And if pizzicato would it sound better as just normal pizzicato or " pizzicato quasi guitara" like in the 4th movement of Rimsky Korsakov's Capriccio Espagnol?
What brand of lute should I buy to start out with?
I've always wanted to play one of those insturments. I will probably get it from ebay but I don't know what to look for a beginer.Lutes aren't popular enough for a brand to mass produce them are they? Well, ignore that. What should I get for a beginner?No I don't. But I guess it does look that way.

I have this instrument, it is four stringed, pear shaped body, large head huge tuning pegs and extreme raised frets, like a lute, but just four strings and rather small around 24 inches tall and 8 inches at its widest. About the size of a mandolin, but clearly asian.Its obviously handmade and it feels like the paint is more like a clay and beautifully decorated with glass like sequins. The man I bought it from a few years ago said it came back from the Korean War, but no luck looking under Korean stringed instruments.Any ideas? I can't identify this from any available images.Just throw out some ideas for me to research.Thanks

Being a metal player, 22 just isn't enough. Can this possibly be done? I also think such a mod would be incredibly cool. Also, please don't answer with anything about diminishing the value of the guitar. I don't want to hear it. I play guitars for how they sound and feel, not for how much they're worth.
