Should I buy a 20-year old used spinet piano?
I'm looking to buy a used piano, the current owner bought it at an auction two years ago and the piano itself is about 20 years old, as well, we can't find a brand name anywhere. The outside of the piano has been well taken care of and I insides look ok. I've done a little research and I think it's a spinet piano. It does need a little work. Is this piano a good investment? Or should I keep looking?
Cost of Gulbransen spinet?
I am buying a Gulbransen spinet with a walnut finish made in the 1970's. It's a 38 inch. It is in decent shape, but has not been tuned in over 10 years...Has chipped keys, the walnut finish is blemished, a few keys stick but other than that it seems in semi decent shape.Does anyone know what this might be worth?

How much does a cable nelson spinet piano weigh?
Why does this happen with some Spinet pianos?...(Piano technician/Pianists please answer if you know)?
I have a question about a problem that I found between 2 spinet pianos...my piano that I used when I was growing up was an Acrosonic spinet, and it was a pretty good piano until I went away to college for music and my parents moved...they moved to an apartment while I was a freshman in college, and I realized when I came home to the new living location, my piano was playing differently after the move ...when I played on my Acrosonic after it was moved, the strings will still be resonating even after I picked my finger up from the key and the damper was released and resting on the string, so the note will still be sounding as if I was using the damper pedal or holding the key down even when I wasn't it appeared that the dampers were working fine they would go back down sitting against the string, yet it would sound like the string is still resonating . Anyway, this ANNOYED ME Note that this happened mostly with the lower register notes. I'm not sure if this happened b c of the actual move of the piano I don't think so, maybe it's because in the apartment we had the heat on during the winter more then when we used to own a house?...So, anyway, now I am in South Carolina, where it's more humid year round...I was just looking at a Howard spinet piano today and I realized that the lower and mid range notes strings were also doing an extensive amount of resonating, even after I lifted my finger from the key and the damper went back down on the string....the couple who owned the piano said it used to be upstairs in a room, but they recently moved it to a garage type area, although it was climate controlled and used as a living area I wouldn't really call it a garage but it was all concrete w some windows and perhaps slightly cooler then the actual house, although there was some heat in it .So my question to you is, what causes a piano to have the strings resonate extensively after you played a note when the dampers go back to position where the string should stop ringing ? This does not happen on all of the spinets I had played on, just my piano AFTER we moved, and on this Howard Spinet that I recently tried out...could you let me know what the problem is, and if there's a way to fix it inexpensively ? I'm wondering also if this only happens to spinets or if it happens to other pianos please note that the dampers were WORKING FINE, or I guess they weren't since the strings were obviously still sounding when the dampers were down, but the dampers visually looked to be in good working order plus the higher tenor and soprano registers were not doing the extensive ringing . Please let me know if you have any ideas, I am curious THANKS FOR READING this long description Ok people...I am a pianist..I KNOW the difference between spinets consoles studios uprights grands...and I know that spinets have problems, etc. etc. I am just CURIOUS as to why this problem had raised in a couple of pianos that I had encountered. Please do not tell me what to buy I can decide for myself what I want and I know the pros and cons that come with each type of piano , my question has nothing to do with purchasing a piano I simply want to know why some strings continue to resonate when the dampers APPEAR to be working and they do work in the higher register, just do not completely " damper" the lower register .Please do not answer if you are not going to ANSWER MY SPECIFIC QUESTION. Thanks sarcastic smile
