What new musical instrument would you create?
it could be a combination of already existing instruments or something entirely new

Will there ever be new musical instruments?
I know it may sound stupid but I have always wondered this why do musical instruments basically stay the same in their basic design throughout time? Guitars, drums, keyboards, etc. I am NOT talking about the performance of each instrument it is pretty much clear that instruments become more and more efficient throughout time . I am talking about the design, the shape. Have we reached the summit of musical instrument design? is that why guitars for example will always be shaped the way they are? Are the instruments fully ergonomic and so they are now destined to stay unchanged until our human body changes? Will we see rock bands in the year 2500 still playing the same kind of drums and guitars that ALL bands still play guitars hanging from their necks with one hand on the " neck" and the other on the " bridge" , or banging circular drums with sticks ? Will instruments ever change their shape significantly? Have we invented all musical instruments there can ever be invented?No one seems to address my question about SHAPE and ergonomics...
A new musical instrument?
I was looking into finding a new musical instrument to learn, preferably something small and portable so that i could play it while out and about. At the moment i am fairly keen on getting an ocarina. Anyone got any suggestions?

A certain German who shall remain nameless other than Jurgen has grown his nose hairs to such an impressive degree that he has now tied them to a ring in his foreskin to produce a fascinating new musical instrument which he bows with an exceptionally long pube stretched across a 12" ruler. The resulting cacockphony is unmelodious in the extreme and is accompanied by howls of anguish as he tensions the instrument to vary the pitch. I feel sure that there must be other maestros of pneumonobaphone who could perhaps offer a few words of advice to our budding teutonic Grappeli.
Since the advent of electric musical instruments, why haven't there been any new musical instruments invented?
I mean, like the violin and piano and guitar, there have been no new invented musical instruments. Why not? Everybody and their brother and sister listens to music? We have to wait until Star Trek becomes real to hear a new instrument?
