Where can I hear an authentic Tromba marina or Morin Kur traditional songs?
I've never heard a song with an actual tromba marina being played. A handful of Vivaldi's concerto's called for the violins to be played " in tromba marina" How is this effect achieved? The tromba marina is a Baroque bowed string instrument that consisted of 2 strings of uneven length and an extremely ornate brass bridge that gave the instrument the sound of a trumpet. Tromba marina means " sea trumpet" Secondly, although I have heard Morin Khuur music, I have never heard one that was made in the traditional way. The Morin Khuur' body was originally made from the head of a freshly euthanized horse, and the strings were from a certain tendon, or sinew I think . The ancient Mongolians worshiped horses and when one of them went lame everybody who owns horses knows you have no choice but to euthanize them then they believed that unless they did this ritual of making virtuosic music with the body, the horses couldn't reach the place we refer to as " heaven" Do you know of a recording of a real horse head Morin Khuur?I'd like to hear actual songs, not just a museum curator rubbin' it.
